Our opulently refined avant-garde kani cashmere shawls, woven in quaint little villages in the Kashmir Valley on the historic wooden looms, using the Pure fine Himalayan cashmere fibre of the Capra Hircus goat, dyed in vibrant colors, are a work of timeless dedication & love.- Composition : 100% Cashmere
The design is formed on the shawl by the manipulation of small wooden sticks called ‘kanis’ which interlock their respective colored threads as they complete each weft of the warp.
A single Kani can have around thirty colors. An artisan takes about 760 hours, working consistently 5-6 hours a day, to produce this delicate piece of art.
Our stringent quality-testing approach tests the textile, and protects the interest of customers. Testing is done by The Craft Development Institute (CDI) of Srinagar, the only fully-focused cashmere lab in India.
We send the original test reports for all our hand woven pieces. In case requested, we would also be happy to share the scanned copy prior to the purchase for your satisfaction.
5% of our profit proceeds are given back to the welfare and up-liftment of the women & children of the artisan families & communities.
